McLane Rieger Communications is headed by Jan Rieger, whose 18 years of exceptional experience includes working in New York City, two blocks from the World Trade Center, for a first-class advertising and public relations firm founded by Dow Jones Corporation.
She worked for the world's largest public relations firm ( Hill & Knowlton ), and the world's largest advertising agency ( BBDO , now Omnicom). Her corporate experience includes directing the public relations effort for a multi-billion dollar consumer corporation. She handled crises on a daily basis, as the sole media spokesperson for the international chain.
Jan's media experience includes serving as Assistant Editor of HOUSTON Magazine , and writing articles for numerous magazines and an online "zine." She interviewed the likes of the infamous Leona Helmsley and John Bookout, the president of Shell Oil.
Her non-profit experience includes PR positions with the nation's largest cancer center, M. D. Anderson , and with Trinity University , where she attracted international media to cover its unique programs.
Jan is a natural leader. Many charities have benefited from her energy and enthusiasm, whether as a client or recipient of many volunteer hours. She was a featured speaker at Share Our Strength's National Conference of Leaders, and was given the Bronze Leadership Award from Junior Achievement . For ANGELCARE Children's Aid International , she cleaned and painted an abandoned school in a slum of Guatemala City, sleeping on the floor with the spiders for two weeks in an area rife with gang violence. She chaired the board of San Diego County's largest domestic violence program, and chaired a black-tie gala that raised $85,000.
Jan holds a degree in journalism from The University of Texas at Austin and did graduate work at Rice University and the New York Institute of Finance .
